About Us

The Godwin Ogbeide Scholarship Foundation was established in September 2023, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the memory of Godwin Ogbeide, a man deeply committed to education. Founded by his children, Eghosa and Godwina Ogbeide, this foundation pays tribute to Godwin's legacy. He was a dedicated student at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. Godwin's journey in this field was marked by excellence, a testament to the profound value he placed on education, a value instilled in him by his father when he emigrated from Nigeria to the United States.

In 2003, Godwin succumbed to colon cancer, leaving behind the indelible imprint of his dedication to education, especially in his daughters. In 2023, marking two decades since Godwin's passing, Eghosa and Godwina Ogbeide sought to honor their father's memory by establishing this foundation. Their mission is to emphasize the significance of education, particularly within the Black community in the United States. Just as their father imparted the importance of quality education to them, they aspire to inspire other Black students to excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), embracing all the opportunities the world has to offer.

The Godwin Ogbeide Scholarship Foundation is driven by a clear mission: to provide financial assistance and support to Black high school seniors, that come from single-parent households, pursuing STEM education at the college level. Our objective is to champion diversity and inclusivity in the STEM sectors by investing in the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers. We firmly believe that every talented and driven student should have equitable access to quality education and opportunities, irrespective of their financial or family circumstances. Our scholarship program is designed to dismantle the financial barriers and challenges that might otherwise obstruct deserving students from realizing their full potential and fulfilling their aspirations.

Our ultimate vision is a society that is more equitable, diverse, and inclusive—a place where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and make a positive impact. Through the Godwin Ogbeide Scholarship Foundation, we are committed to building this vision, one scholarship at a time. Together, we can forge a brighter, more equitable future for all.
